Flower Show A Successful Dillon Event
Dillon's most successful and colorful flower show closed last Saturday night after drawing crowds for two days. Nearly a hundred varieties of blossoms were shown with vibrant color and delicate perfume. The South Side earned the most points, 127, for district honors, followed by the West Side, North Side, and East Side. The best decorated booth went to the South Side with a rustic summer-house display. Children’s floral parade featured decorated ponies, bicycles, and doll carriages with prizes awarded for best decorated pony, bicycle, doll buggy, baby buggy, tricycle, wagon, and automobile. Prize winners included jack Barrett, Craig Anderson, and numerous others across multiple categories.

Beav erhead Sheepherder Dies by Self Inflicted Gunshot
Isadore Mondotte a long time Beaverhead county sheep herder ended his life with a .88 caliber revolver on a highway west of town last Tuesday morning. He left three letters including a note directing burial and expressing despair over finances and health. Mondotte had previously attempted suicide in Butte last winter and had talked of taking his life before leaving for a ranch job.

Dillon Man Charles Hutchinson Dies After Illness
Charles Hutchinson aged 62 died suddenly last Friday at his daughter Mrs. Clark Humphrey’s home on North Pacific street after a brief illness. He had lived in Dillon for years and worked on local ranches including Carter Livestock. Survived by another daughter from Dubois Idaho and several grandchildren. Funeral held Saturday at the First Baptist Church with Rev. E. O. Shannon officiating. burial in Mountain View cemetery.

Second Alfalfa Crop Now Being Harvested
Ranchers in Beaverhead valley are cutting a second alfalfa crop this week, expected to yield more than the first cut. The second crop is thick and good quality though maturing slower than usual. Wheat and oats harvests are progressing countywide, with yields below normal due to cold spring and summer hail, but overall output remains solid. Threshing outfits are touring the valley as large grain loads approach town.

Grimeses Welcome Baby Boy At Barrett Hospital
An eight pound baby boy was born last Monday evening at Barrett hospital to Mr. and Mrs. Walter V. Grimes. Mother and baby are doing nicely and the father is receiving congratulations from friends. This is their second child with an elder sister.

Frenchman Found Dead. Coroner Rules No Inquest
A 50-year-old native of France died under unknown circumstances. The funeral was held from Brundage chapel on Tuesday. Coroner James Phillips ruled no inquest was necessary after investigating the death. No relatives were found. one letter said he had no family or close friends.

Mail Plane Stops For Night At Local Field
Low clouds and fog over the divide forced Roy Elsmore, a mail plane pilot operating between Salt Lake and Great Falls, to turn back last Monday evening and land at Woodside field about 8 oclock. The crew continued the flight the next morning. A large crowd from Dillon visited the field to inspect the aircraft, marking the first time such a big ship landed there.

Mrs Ezra Thompson, longtime Dillon resident, died after a long illness at her North Idaho street home. Born in 67 years ago in New York City, she came west as a young woman and lived in Dillon since the early 1890s. Survived by husband and five children Albert Frazier a married daughter from a former marriage Martha George and Jessie Thompson. Funeral services were held Thursday at Brundage chapel with Rev T J Simons officiating.

Henry C. Burfiend a Dillon druggist died at Barrett hospital after a sudden illness on Thursday morning from acute Brights disease. Born September 12, 1891 he served in World War I and ran a North Montana street drugstore. Surviving include his wife a son his mother three sisters and a brother with funeral plans pending relatives arrival.
