Lost Cause Portrait in a Dilapidated Southern Estate

Two Northern men, journalist and artist, arrive at a decayed Darrahsmount estate and encounter Miss Lanier and her blind Confederate veteran father. They hear a speaking woman in a bare interior as Isaac the old enslaved man aids hospitality. The scene unfolds with hints of conquest, nostalgia, and a possible moral dilemma about intrusive curiosity.
