Fire set in Dillon Mercantile rear amid alleged incendiary act
A planned attempt to burn the rear of the Dillon Mercantile Co. store was foiled after a boy's alarm in an alley caused bystanders to see flames eight to ten feet high near kerosene and oil cans. R A Sullivan led the first responders and said the blaze was in a box of excelsior atop another box, placed near an oil house. The incident is described as a deliberate incendiary act with potential to succeed if not stopped.
