Two men sentenced on liquor charge in district court
RS C. D. Kimball of the Dillon hotel and W. E. McGehee of Barnett street were arrested Monday evening on selling liquor to an eighteen year old. They pleaded guilty before Judge H. G. Rodgers and were given a stay with bonds of 1500 dollars each for formal sentencing on Saturday, August 28.

Relics Found in Gravel Pit May Link Lewis and Clark Route
Carl Mast's crew uncovered two stone fireplaces buried about three feet under gravel on Upper Horse Prairie. The ancient masonry, each with a charcoal bed, suggests cooking use by travelers. Local oldtimers recall no camp at the site, but its location on the Lewis and Clark expedition path supports the theory.

Two youths jailed for calf butcherings in Medicine Lodge
Dana Carroll and Charles Smith pleaded guilty to butchering a calf near the Rife ranch on Medicine Lodge. Carroll drew three years in the state prison and Smith two years, per Judge H G Rodgers. They were conveyed to Deer Lodge to begin serving.

Dillon saw membership rise from 25 to 62, lifting District No 3 over the top, and the post earned a badge as a one hundred percent unit for meeting all state requirements.

County Board Approves Two Mill Tax Increase

In response to a United Press survey showing higher food prices in several cities, Dillon merchants insist there has been a general 10 to 15 percent decline in local food costs. Butter, coffee, flour, canned fruits, bread, and fresh vegetables are reported cheaper, while a typical family dinner would cost about 1.00 to 1.25 locally versus higher city estimates.

Revival Meetings End at Elk Horn Springs
The two week revival at Elk Horn Springs ended Wednesday with ten baptisms performed. Dillon attendees traveled in several cars to join the day of services and a sumptuous supper at C. M. Hansen home. Officials report one soul saved five reclaimed five baptized with the Holy Spirit and one baptized with water before the team moves to Salmon.

Ill With Typhoid Tied To Kent Addition Family
Vergil Roylance, son of Mr and Mrs Roylance of Kent Addition, fell seriously ill at home Thursday of last week and was moved to Barrett hospital. An analysis confirmed typhoid fever and he is reported to be slowly recovering.

Scouts Return From Miner Lake Camp
Two Dillon Boy Scout troops totaling over twenty boys returned from a five day outing at Miner Lake west of Jackson. The group praised the camp program and meals after overstaying four days. Credit for the success goes to camp chairman W. B. Hartwig LeRoy Gilbert and executive A. L. Krause with Mrs. Harry Williams and Harry Williams assisting. Dr. R. D. Curry and J. C. Jeppson also spent the final days at the site.

Youth Arrested in Shoe Shop Hold Up Pleads Not Guilty
Harley Sallee was arrested by Officer Bourquin after Bob Rowlands of the Red Boot Shoe shop reported an attempted hold up. Sallee pleaded not guilty in Judge Phillips court and is held for trial. He allegedly tried to break in but fled when Rowlands armed himself with a shotgun.

Woman Injured When Car Is Struck by Bus Near Dillon
Mrs. George A. Eaton of Salt Lake City suffered a severely wrenched back and possible broken ribs after her Dodge sedan, carrying her husband, was rear ended by a Butte-Dillon bus ten miles north of Dillon. The bus driver said brake failure caused the crash following a gravel slowdown. Both vehicles damaged. the bus could not move under its own power and another Butte bus ferried passengers and freight.

Jack Flynn Held on Knife Wielding Charge
Jack Flynn a herder was arrested by Officer Bourquin after an altercation at a local soft drink shop. He is charged with seriously slashing Matt Anderson a county sheepman with a knife. Anderson was wounded in the face and shoulder and is recovering at home. Flynn says he does not remember the incident, claiming intoxication.
