A three alarm blaze in Hoboken destroyed Duke's Hotel and the Lackawanna terminal within minutes. The fire spread to the streetcar system and threatened Hamburg American and North German Lloyd docks. No lives reported, with losses estimated between 400000 and 650000 dollars as the steamship piers were saved.
