Birds immune to gopher poison say researchers
Prof. R A Cooley and G A Roosevelt state no authenticated cases of game and song birds being killed by poisoned oats used in gopher campaigns. They note gallinaceous birds show immunity and that experiments with poisoned oats caused no harm to chickens, while the first gopher exposed died minutes after eating. The federal survey found no proof of bird destruction beyond crows and magpies.
