From Manila March 5 a letter from Charles Virden describes frontline life with the 8th Army Corps. He notes grim fighting, poor shots by the enemy but brave actions, heavy trench work, and a desire to return home once the trouble subsides. He mentions MacArthur's HQ, shelter tents, and shifting officer appointments.
