Beaverhead county sees rising political activity as candidates file for office. Pearl I. Smith announces on the republican ticket for state senator. Easter Services Draw Large Crowds Across Dillon Churches

Easter Sunday drew impressive attendance at five Dillon churches with special programs flowers and music. Weather allowed broad participation including sunrise devotions at Presbyterian and Methodist churches and children’s activities at the Guild hall and St James. Few Divorces Granted Here During Past Year

The Beaverhead county clerk records show 1927 brought 16 divorces, about one fifth of the 81 marriage licenses issued that year. The office logged 142 cases: 75 civil actions, 10 criminal, 39 probate. 1 naturalization petition, 3 juvenile hearings, and 14 insanity cases.

Dillon man Pat O'Brien received six months in the county jail after stealing ladies' hosiery from Eliel's store and then from J. Penny's. He was arrested by Officer Bourquin and confessed in justice court before Judge Phillips.

Kamps Trial Set For April 16 In Beaver Trapping Case

Lima resident Fred Kamps was arraigned in justice court on a charge of unlawfully trapping beaver. He pleaded not guilty and a trial date was set for April 16 at 2 o clock by Judge L P Phillips. Deputy Game Warden Charles Price and Undersheriff Carl Hartwig made the arrest.

Grade School Track Meet Set for April 27 28

Arrangements are underway for the annual grade school track meet of the county hosted by Beaverhead County High School on April 27 and 28. A planning meeting is scheduled for Monday evening to finalize details.

Miss Fanny Cahill Claimed by Reaper

Miss Fanny Cahill of Dillon Montana died after a five week illness at her home on South Atlantic street. She was 50, born Alder Gulch near Virginia City, lifelong Montana resident, devout Catholic and businesswoman. She is survived by four sisters and a brother Henry Cahill. Funeral Mass held at the Catholic church with burial in Mountain View cemetery.

Tom Whitworth Dead at 60 in Grant Cabin

Tom Whitworth aged 60 died in his sleep at a Grant area cabin Tuesday night and neighbor found his body next morning. Remains taken to Dillon by H. M. Brundage as relatives are sought. He lived about 20 years in Medicine Lodge region and worked as a ranch hand. A marriage license was issued Tuesday afternoon to Fred A. Gailey of Idaho Falls and Zelda L. Later of Rigby. Daylight Saving Considered by Dillon Rotary Club

During a Dillon Rotary meeting at the Andrus Hotel on Wednesday noon, B N Stevenson proposed a daylight saving plan for Dillon this summer. The proposal was referred to the public relations committee led by Frank Eliel for interviews with local business leaders and a report next meeting.

Isaac Jacques Funeral Held Here Saturday

Funeral services for Isaac Jacques prominent Lima resident were held last Saturday at the Brundage chapel with Rev F X Leschner of St Rose Catholic Church officiating. Interment followed in Mountain View cemetery as friends from the county’s southern end attended.

Ed Gleed Elected Mayor in Lima Quiet City Vote

Lima held a calm election last Monday with 22 votes cast. Ed Gleed was re elected mayor by a unanimous vote. James M Burt won alderman in the First ward and Robert Poe won alderman in the Second ward.

Madison Sheeppman Injured by Alfalfa Chopper

T. J. Call, well known sheepman of Innis, was injured Sunday April 1 while aiding an alfalfa chopper. A blade cut off the heel cushion as he slipped while pushing the machine into the feeder. Treated at Murray hospital in Butte, the injury is not serious but slow to heal and may require grafting.

Tom Pierce Critically Ill in Butte

Tom Pierce a prominent young ranchman of Medicine Lodge is in a critical condition at a Butte hospital. He had come to Butte for two weeks of treatment for a stomach ailment and planned a Mayo Clinic visit in Rochester Minnesota. An operation was performed Tuesday and he briefly rallied before a sinking spell Wednesday night.
