Official Who Borrowed Money From Storey Admits Indiscretion
Philadelphia April 3 Inspector George C. Holden of the postal service division admitted that the Storey Cotton company, now mostly fugitives, lent him 1100 as a short loan and that he repaid it days later without any agreement to shield the firm from post office investigations. The loan was uncovered by U S attorneys during a probe of the defunct firm. Holden also alleges Har rison J Barrett, once of the Justice Department and nephew of the late James Tyner, acted as the Storey firm’s lawyer and helped trigger a fraud order. Assistant District Attorney Stewart says the investigation supports part of that claim and notes his awareness of what Barrett received.
