Poultry Cull Demonstrations in Fergus County Show Gains
Six Fergus County communities conducted August poultry culling demonstrations. Of 317 hens examined, 172 were kept as good layers and 145 culled. Egg output before culling totaled 1078 eggs and after culling 1086, with 968 from good birds and 128 from the culls. County agent Carl Peterson urges culling nonlayers to boost production and offers Circular No. 58 from the Extension Service Bozeman.

Montana Cattle Sell Strong at Chicago Yards Despite Light Runs
Chicago Livestock reports show Montana cattle selling up to 9.25 with 10 090 head on one sale day of last week from 27 000 offered. Range cattle in light supply sold 5.50 to 6.25 for most, with best cows up to 6.50 6.75 and heifers to 8.00 for handy weights. Canners around 3.00 and butcher quality 3.50 to 4.00. buyers anticipate strong market for range cattle into fall as ranger supplies feed the fall demand.
