Seed Potato Harvest Opens in Beaverhead County
The 1952 seed potato crop in Beaverhead County begins with Irvine and Cotton using mechanical diggers to harvest about 300 acres north of Dillon. The shift from Mexican labor to machines continues a 1951 policy, with dust clouds and trucks delivering tubs to Dillon storage bins. Early signs indicate a larger yield than 1951, with potatoes larger and cleaner due to improved digging and handling.
