Beaverhead County Beams At State Fair Train Lifted This Morning
The Beaverhead special train left Dillon at 6:80 this morning carrying three Pullmans two compartment cars a diner an observation car a dynamo and baggage car and about one hundred residents to showcase the county for three days at the state fair. Despite earlier reservations shortage Frank Hazelbaker and Mayor Selway with Eliel Stahl and Geary rallied support from Helena and Lima boosting funds and plans. The Beaverhead display features county crops potatoes corn grain and school exhibits with prizes won by Carter Edinger Virgil Whitbeck Mrs Templin and efforts by Miss Rust Miss Baker and Dr Finch, drawing strong crowds for Helena’s fair debut.

Small Fire at Tower Residence Promptly Extinguished
A defective chimney at the new Burt Adams Tower home caused a minor blaze on Tuesday morning. Edith Hatch awakened by smoke alerted Mrs. Tower, and with help from Prof. Cluley and Frank Birrer the fire on the second story was put out. Insurance fully covered the losses.

George H. Howard Dies After Short Illness
George H. Howard longtime Beaverhead county resident died at his Railroad avenue home last Wednesday afternoon heart failure was the cause. A Canadian by birth he moved to Michigan, joined the Union army, and later settled in Bannack and Glen dale before living here. Survived by his wife who was with him at death. He belonged to Bannack Odd Fellows lodge and leaves many old-time friends.

Mrs. R J Brown 65 a long time Big Hole basin resident died last Thursday at the Bigler house on West Helena street after a pneumonia illness. She taught in Beaverhead county directing several Glendale and Sheridan schools. She leaves two sons in the Big Hole community. Miss Lena Lovell a Beaverhead county resident died at the home of Mrs. George Gray in Dillon last Wednesday at midnight after a long cancer battle. Born March 20 1870 in England she came to Montana at 20 and built ranch, property and homes here. Funeral at St James Episcopal Church with Rev. William S. Watson and interment in Mountain View Cemetery.

Beet Factory Starts Run in Billings
Beets on hand enough for about a week with more arriving daily by train. The Billings sugar factory began slicing at 1800 to 1900 tons per day for four months.
