Veterans urged to copy discharge papers for benefits
The Veterans Administration asks all veterans to make photo static or certified copies of their discharge or separation papers for benefits. Veterans since June 27 1950 the start of the Korean conflict should do so now if they plan to attend school this fall under the GI bill. Post Korean veterans may avoid delays in education or training payments if copies precede submission of original papers for muster-out pay. For most VA benefits copies are acceptable though GI loan certificates require the original papers. Veterans released to the reserves since June 27 1950 should submit their separation report or service certificate as they lack discharge papers.
