Accident Shoots Leslie Dodds in Hunting Incident at Carroll Ranch
The first hunting casualty occurred when young Leslie Dodds was accidentally shot while in a canoe near the Francis Carroll ranch. The bullet from Dodds’ gun pierced the left thigh, causing heavy blood loss and a serious wound. He was rushed to the house, then to Dillon, later transported to Murray hospital in Butte for possible surgery. The report notes the injury was grave but not fatal, with the potential danger if the femoral artery were struck. In the same piece, J. B.
