Revenue Act 1951 Raises Withholding Rates from Nov 1
Helena Montana collector of internal revenue Thomas M. Robinson announced that employers must withhold income tax at the higher rates of the Revenue Act of 1951 from wages paid on and after November 1 1951. Revised withholding tables are being printed in Washington and will be mailed to employers once the law is enacted. Employers lacking pamphlets can obtain copies at the collector’s office and are urged to comply despite a short lead time before the first affected payroll. The act also relieves penalties for failure to file estimated tax on 1040 ES due to rate increases, though 1951 taxes must be paid with the annual return. Mrs Ralph Nichols of Wisdom visited Dillon Monday.
