Helping Irrigation The Eastern Drive For Large Appropriations

George H. Maxwell urged Spokane business leaders to unite with eastern commercial interests to secure large irrigation appropriations. He argued the present act will not reclaim the arid West and stressed organizing with national manufacturers, boards, and associations to back big projects like the Great Bend and Colorado Desert reclamation, regardless of local lines. He emphasized unity, the Reclamation Service’s integrity, and using approved projects to obtain funding for settlement and land development.
