Thieves breached a basement door at the Dell Mercantile store and used a brace and bit to access the shop upstairs. They grabbed shoes coats tobacco ham and bacon valued at 250 during the Monday night burglary and fled.

Albert Decken longtime newspaper man and father of Glen A Decker died at his son’s home in Dillon this afternoon after a short illness of about a day He had lived in Dillon since last November and made many friends in the community Born January 24 1850 in Branch County Michigan he moved with his parents to Indiana in 1864 In 1872 he traveled to California spent a year in Tehama County visited North Platte and San Francisco and rode the first Missouri River crossing train on record.
