Discount Rate Now 6 Percent in Ninth District

Helena reports the Minneapolis nine district bank reduced the rediscount rate on agricultural livestock and commercial paper from 6.5 to 6 percent. The move follows the bank paying off its interbank debt and ends a period of borrowing since 1920. The change, approved by the district board and confirmed by the federal reserve board, aims to support credit conditions as liquidation progresses.
