Melrose Woman Is Buried Here

The funeral for Mrs. David Evans, 63, who died from an automobile accident near Divide, was held at St. James Episcopal church in Dillon with burial at Mountain View cemetery. Survivors include her husband, four daughters, two sons, and a daughter Elizabeth Jane Evans known in Washington war work. Large Melrose turnout. many local residents attended the service.

J W Frizzell a Dillon farmer on the Wheatland bench died Friday at Curtis hospital after injuries from a Monday horse trampling. Funeral Saturday at the Methodist church with interment in Mountain View cemetery. Grain Yield Claims High Season Wide

Threshing in the region shows strong crops with winter wheat reaching forty bushels on benchland east of Dilton near the hills. Most ranchers report ten to twelve bushels, while spring wheat also tests well for the area.

Robbery occurred during the night at the Lima hotel. About $50 in change was stolen from the barroom cash register. No arrests have been made at this time.

Beaverhead County Subscribes Boldly in Fourth Liberty Loan

Beaverhead County far surpassed its quota in the Fourth Liberty Loan, with a target of 380000 and subscriptions exceeding this amount. Frank Hazelbaker relayed the good news to Ninth Federal district headquarters, as the committee emphasizes maximizing subscribers to earn a ship or tank named for the county. Citizens urged to buy at least one bond and report to the committee if not yet subscribed.

Federal aid planned for spring planting in drought areas

Great Falls Montana September 2 9 federal aid will be issued to farmers in burnt out districts of Montana North Dakota and Washington who did not receive seed grain in seeding down 100 acres this fall The aid pays 5 dollars per acre with a maximum of 100 acres and totals 550 600 for Montana 600 000 for North Dakota and 200 000 for Washington according to G I Christie assistant to Secretary Houston and the seed grain loan office in Great Falls This follows a message from Secretary Houston sanctioning the spring planting aid within remaining funds.

Alexander Murray Dees In Butte Ranchman

Alexander Murray a prominent ranchman died in Butte last Saturday after an operation. He endured poor health for months but, at 72, withstood the operation. The Dillon funeral was held Monday at the Methodist church with burial in Mountain View cemetery. Born in Ohio, he came to Montana 28 years ago to Beaverhead county and ranched. Survived by two brothers, Senator J. P. Murray and Elza Murray.

Aged Lady Dies in Dillon Near South Railroad Avenue

Mrs. Cathrine Bell aged seventy eight died Monday afternoon at the home of Mr. and Mrs. J C Patterson on South Railroad avenue. She was a stranger in Dillon having come a week ago with her daughter Mrs Patterson wife of the new road master. The remains were shipped to Kirksville Missouri yesterday for interment.
