Goldsworthy Conover wedding held at Dillon First Presbyterian

Gladys Audrey Goldsworthy and John L. Conover Jr were married in Dillon on Oct 17 at the First Presbyterian church. Rev William J Holland officiated the double ring ceremony. The couple celebrated with a dinner at Andrus Hotel and later honeymooned in the Tetons and Yellowstone Park. They reside on the Conover ranch in Blacktail Deer Creek. Out of town guests included Roy and Dale Walker of Salt Lake City and C S Perkins and Dora Christofferson of Deer Lodge.

Public Library Week Display Continues At Dillon

Dillon Public Library marks Book Week November 17 to 24 with a book fair of new and rare volumes. Flu illness altered plans for group readings and children's gatherings. overdue books may be returned without penalties. New adult titles include From Wilderness to Statehood and The Greek Way among others. juvenile lists feature Valley of Defiance and Katie Rittenheart, with many more titles.

Former Resident 97 Dies in Canada

Isabelle Piercy, 97, grandmother of Mrs. Paul Martinell, died last week in Courtney British Columbia. A former Dillon and Lima resident, she was mother of Mrs. Ralph Harding and was well known in Dillon. Mrs. Martinell had visited her in Courtney a month ago.

Two Ski Meets Set for Rainey Mountain Course

The Dillon Ski Club will host two ski meets at Rainey Mountain Course near Elkhorn Hot Springs next January and February. The Elkhorn Invitational with downhill and slalom races is set for January 11 12, while an invitational jumping meet runs February 15 16. The 1.5 mile Rainey Mountain course drops about 2000 feet as club volunteers prep the slopes.

Hunters cause fence damage on U S 91 near Dillon

Three hunters from Butte escaped injury when their car left the highway Sunday evening and tore down several panels of wire fencing at the Chris Peterson ranch. The car was not badly damaged. Sheriff Lloyd Thomas said the men agreed to pay for the fence damage. The group consisted of Joel P. Barry Richard Barry and Kevin R. Barry all of Butte.

County savings bonds sales for October rose 25 percent over September. County total for October 17 300 with year to date 168 141 toward a 303 600 quota. state totals 1 960 171 in October. County chairman cites thrift as a keystone to family security and dollar stability.

Man Bound Over On Bad Check Charge

Wilbur Watts 37 was bound over to District Court on forgery charges after attempting to pass a fraudulent 15 dollar check at a local store. Police officer Bruce Knox arrested him as Chief Leo Williams said authorities in Indiana were seeking Watts.

High School Seniors May Enlist in National Guard Units

Master Sergeant Michael Proulx Jr. reports Montana National Guard has relaxed recruiting for high school seniors with no prior service. Seniors may enlist with a one year deferment before six months of training. Local Company D has 72 enlisted men and five officers and is rated excellent after the IG inspection. Paperwork for a local armory is complete and awaiting authorization.
