State Game Warden Henry Avare reports an exceptionally good hunting season in Montana with abundant deer elk mountain goats and mountain sheep. Hunters show trophies at markets and many big game stories appear in country papers though mountain lions and bears are less common as bounty on scalps ends. Season ends December 1 for many game classes and prospects remain strong in unsettled areas for years.

Charles Warner Found Guilty of Second Degree Assault
Charles Warner was found guilty in district court of second degree assault for attacking William Kohl proprietor of the Centennial Saloon. Witnesses said Warner, intoxicated, tried to cause trouble and Kohl was severely wounded and hospitalized. Judge Callaway sentenced Warner to three years in the Deer Lodge penitentiary.
