Unsuccessful hunt for Elmer Mikus near Dillon

An extensive search began Sunday morning November 12 for Elmer Mikus of Dillon who failed to return from a deer hunting trip in the Bon Accord area on Grasshopper creek. Sheriff Paul H. Temple led a large posse for three days with multiple helpers and plane reconnaissance but found no trace, as officials deem locating him unlikely.

Sudden Death of Beaverhead Resident R Severinsky

Rudolph Severinsky aged 66 died suddenly in the yard of his Beaverhead county home on Tuesday evening November 7 likely from a heart attack. Born April 17 1884 in Austria he came to the area with his parents about 40 years ago. He leaves a brother Joe Severinsky of Butte and two other brothers. Rosary was recited Sunday in Brundage chapel. Requiem Mass was held Monday at St. Rose Church. Interment followed at Mountain View cemetery.

Former Resident Dies After Mishap

Charles Flynn, 74, old-time rancher of the Dell area, died Monday from injuries in an automobile accident a few days earlier. He left Beaverhead county years ago for Oregon. The body will be brought to Lima for funeral services and interment Thursday afternoon.

Novelty Night at the Beaver Circus at B C H S

The B C H S band and chorus present a musical program this evening in the high school auditorium at 8 p m directed by A H Hartwig. The program features band and chorus numbers, dancers a clown band acrobats instrumental solos and an accordion saxophone trio.

DePaul Chorus Sings in Dillon Saturday Night

DePaul Chorus performs at the Dillon high school auditorium on Saturday November 18 at 8 15 p m under Columbia Artists Management. The de Paur Infantry Chorus, formed in 1942 at Fort Dix by the 372nd Infantry Regiment, is led by Leonard de Paur and is famed for wartime to modern performances. Membership tickets required for admittance.

Thanksgiving Bird Contests Draw Many Entries at Twin Bridges

Jack Hurley of Wisdom won the miss-and-out shoot at Twin Bridges last Sunday with Clarence Talcott of Big Hole Trap and Gun club as runner up. Thirty five contestants from Butte Great Falls Dillon Wisdom Sheridan Jackson and Twin Bridges competed with hams and bacons awarded to most entrants. Two turkey shoots are set for Sunday November 19 at Bedrock and Jackson sponsored by the Jackson VFW post.

The W.M.C.E. Bulldogs defeated Westminster college 7 to 0 in Salt Lake City. Johnson scored on a goal-line rush but fumbled. Mattix caught a Johnson pass for six points and Fey added the extra point. Davis discussed Dillon College and sports records on the telecast.

Veterans At Fort Harrison Entertained On Armistice Day

Dillon Lodge No. 1554 BPOE sponsored an Armistice Day entertainment for hospitalized veterans at Fort Harrison on Nov 11 1950 despite heavy snow. The Dillon Little Theatre Group and local musicians performed Aunt Lilly with cast including Lloyd Dougherty Evelyn Larson and others. The event moved to Helena Lodge No. 139 for a full show after the Fort Harrison performance.

Waldron Boger was named president of the Dillon Kiwanis club for the coming year at last Wednesday's election during the regular weekly dinner in the Andrus dining room. Officers include Lloyd Dougherty as first vice president and Jack Curtis as second vice president, with Dave Williams treasurer and Harold Hendren secretary. Rangers First At Northwest Airlines Crash Scene

Rangers Frank C. Curtis A F Muchmore and W H McKenzie Dillon office and Clem Kalitowski Jackson station led U S Forest Service crews to the Northwest Airlines Martin 202 crash near the divide entering Butte on November 7th. Curtis reached the wreckage first and located the first body. Local rangers aided the fruitless search for Mrs Winkley in the Birch Creek Willow Creek area.
