Montana Horses Rise in Value and Numbers
Dr. E H Riley reports Montana farms hold about 450000 horses worth 25 percent more than last year. About 200 registered stallions entered Montana this year and Holbert Horse Importing Co of Great Falls has shipped at least 60 stallions, with Fred Holbert in France for more stock. France lifts horse embargoes between Dec 1 1916 and Mar 16 1917 permitting exports. Belgium remains war torn. Breeding advice urges thoroughbreds to uplift stock, with effects visible in eight to ten years. New methods reduce sire reliance and disease precautions boost breeding efficiency.
