Montana Telephone Probe Reveals Connection Needs and Subscribers
Helena reports 49.7 percent of Montana intermountain telephone users who ordered service in 1922 had paid less than a year. From 1914 to 1922, 94 of 100 contracted telephones were discontinued yearly. The Mountain States Telephone Co. argues 15,000 connections yielded 189 new subscribers, amid merger history and a push for higher rates to fund expansion.
