Mexican escapes from Oregon Short Line prisoner near Apex
A Mexican jewelry thief in Sheriff John Killhorns custody leaped from a moving train near Apex at 28 miles per hour and fled into shrubbery. Despite searches by Sheriff Killhorn and Sheriff Erwin, no trace was found until a later meal stop at Peter Nelsons ranch ten miles north of Dillon. A reward of 26 is offered for capture.

Five Year Old Lucile Johnson Dies of Cancer
Lucile Evalyn Johnson the five year old daughter of Mr and Mrs Edward Johnson of this city died after a long illness from cancer of the stomach. She had endured a year or more of suffering and underwent an operation at Murray's hospital in Butte but the disease was too advanced. The funeral was held at the Baptist church at 2:30 Sunday afternoon with Rev Hardy officiating and she was laid to rest in Mountain View cemetery.

State Grange Set for Bozeman Meeting
State Master O E Young of Great Falls announces the annual state grange gathering in Bozeman on January 20 and 21 with the state college orange. Just Collier was ordered deported this week for being an undesirable alien. He had lived in Canada for ten years and been in the United States only six weeks. Two weeks ago he arrived in Dillon to work for the Horse and Monkey Show. The proprietor of this wonders aggregation left him after deeming him undesirable. Collier soon found work cleaning yards.

Man Investigates Premises After Job Application
Monday he applied to Mrs. Rush Rathbone for a similar position and, finding no one home, searched the premises and left a rider by two dollars. Police soon arrested the culprit. A false fire alarm from the J. D. Evans residence near the Catholic church reported a grease fire quickly extinguished by two women and one man. Chief Birrer arrived with his officers but the blaze was out.

Last evening W H Richardson and family left Dillon after three years in the saddlery business. He sold the business a month ago and plans to move to McKinney, Texas for health and climate. Mrs Richardson’s health prompted the move. the family will stay with relatives this winter. He hopes to return to Dillon one day.

Banker Henry Bennett Dies After Delirium Suicide at Murray Hospital
Henry P. Bennett vice president and cashier of the Silver Bow National Bank of Butte died after leaping from a third story window at Murray hospital during a delirium caused by a severe heart attack. He was born January 8 1881 son of A J Bennett and married to Josephine Lamb of Butte survived by his parents his brother Lyman and sister Mina. Funeral held in Virginia City with interment there.

Students Enjoy Party At Dillon Area Halloween Home
A number of high school students attended a Halloween party hosted by Clifford and Mary Wing nine miles south of Dillon. Guests traveled by train or auto, played games and danced, with refreshments served and the house decorated for Halloween. Two Men Arrested for Grass Fire at Rattlesnake Ranch
