Montana hay surplus prompts early feed balance planning
Montana ranchers are urged to balance livestock and feed now as hay shipments out of state reach large levels. In 34 counties 21 have adequate hay, 12 show surplus totaling about 31,000 tons, with much destined for sale yards before Christmas. Extension urges buying extra feed early amid out of state demand and a 1954 hay production similar to 1953 but more livestock.
