A Beaverhead County court heard Jessica K Knapp sue William Knapp for maintenance and 40 per month alimony on cruelty grounds. The judge found no evidence to substantiate cruelty claims and the case concluded with a verdict for the defendant.
The court appointed George R. Metles to map and report on Grasshopper Creek water rights in the East Pahnish case, with a parallel order in Birch Creek, Hirchdale Stock Farm v Hawley Selway et al. Charles Staplin won $215 in a case over a team of black mares against John W. Morton. Other trials and legal actions are noted, including a burglary and shooting case in progress.
The Beaverhead County Pioneers met at Masonic Hall with about a dozen members. Wm Roe presided, Geo French served as secretary pro tem, and two new members joined. A. F Graeter was unanimously elected president with a slate of officers. A committee was named to set the Montana pioneers meeting date and oversee arrangements for the September Dillon gathering.
Nathan Hobson a long time county resident died Sunday at the Hile ranch Bowen from stomach illness. Funeral services led by Rev Clowes were held in Mountain View Cemetery, with few details of his life in early days as a freighter and rancher. He had one child and survived by relatives in Cache Valley and nearby areas.
At a Monday meeting the Terre Weeg Apt Pt school chose teachers for fourth and higher grades. Miss Fette Piette moved up to the fifth grade. others named include Miss Koesfret Met Eva Chisholm as second and Miss M Lyle Jones as third. The seventh and eighth grades will be taught by listed staff. salary noted as FLA per year.
The State Normal executive board re elected Dr Swain as president and laid out the faculty for the next school year. Two vacancies remain. department reorganizations include English and Latin split into English and Literature and Latin and German. New appointments include Kate Pastou in history and Bertha De Hicksinson in music, with salaries set and board awaiting state approval.
The eighth grade class of twelve will graduate Friday with diplomas in a ceremony at the school building. The graduates include John Gerhard Albers Charles Raymond Neves Ella May Cantrell Dora Locia Albers Hilda Keadere Boetcher Berth Pere. A baby boy was born to Mr and Mrs D E Mellen Thursday morning in this city.
