Important Land Decision Narrowly Limits Forest Reserve Authority
Judge Knowles in a federal case United States v. Blendauer rules that the president cannot set aside lands into a forest reserve that are subject to entry. The Lake Camo land, once part of Flathead Indian lands, was not public land. Blendauer had claimed homestead rights and timber cutting was for a home. The ruling is described as far reaching.
