The W A A announces its annual awards banquet to honor members who earned awards. The notice indicates the event will be held at Elkhorn with continued details on page 8.
Bozeman girls attended a rain delayed Triangular College Play Day in Dillon. They arrived Friday evening and joined roller skating. Saturday featured Badminton Archery Tennis and Swimming with Green team prevailing after noon at Torrey Lodge followed by a Rec hall mixer and a W.A.A. lunch.
Beaverhead county electors must re-register by June 3 to vote in the July 19 primary. Clerk Albert S Baker said every citizen must re-register as last year’s names were removed by state act. Voters who did not cast in the last general election are not eligible without re-registration. The books close Friday.
About 300 visitors from Big Hole, Butte, and Anaconda aimed to meet Governor Ayers in Helena to push a Divide to Wisdom highway. Only those at the Montana Stock Growers gathering could proceed. others turned back after reaching Feeley Hill. Names include Mr and Mrs Jake Neidt Sr Mr and Mrs Argyle Stephens Mr and Mrs Jack Miller and Miss Myla Pendleton.
George Hamburg, a Beaverhead county herder aged about 67, died of a heart attack last Wednesday near Armstead, with Elmer Gordon and Deputy Sheriff Dellar Gordon assisting. Funeral held Saturday at Brundage chapel. Crop and range conditions in Beaverhead show promise due to frequent rain and snow, with above average snow storage. Butte area received heavy snowfall, while outdoor events were canceled. Anglers fished opening weekend with several limits as the Big Hole river drew crowds from Butte and surrounding areas.
Dr F I Terrill of the state tuberculosis sanitarium at Galen spoke to the Dillon Rotary Club on early diagnosis and treatment. He noted the sanitarium never lost a patient treated in early stages and traced TB treatment from Saranac Lake origins to five years ago when surgery emerged. T. E. Gilbert presided. guests included Percy Frazier of Butte and Andrew Pickerick and Bob Stephan of Dillon. Next meeting moves to Tuesday due to Memorial Day.
Pupils of the Claudia Faust School of Dancing will present their annual revue Friday night at 8 15 o clock in the training school auditorium. The program features varied dances with several special numbers. Don's Dance band will play before the show and during the intermission.
Montana State college held its eighth annual Little International Livestock Show with a spectator packed pavilion. Joseph Hermann of Dillon won the Vinke Memorial watch and the grand championship, while George Loomis won the reserve championship and Alpha Zeta honors.
Beaverhead Madison and Silver Bow stockgrowers convene in Dillon on June 1 at the courthouse 2:00 p.m. for a tri county stockmen association meeting. Talks cover livestock feeding trends tax problems and animal health. 4 H calves will be shown in the morning at the county fair pavilion judged by Howard G. Lewis. Red Rock Valley Livestock association sponsors the event.
Grant Burlingame, 41, a well known Lima ex-service man, died suddenly at his home Friday morning from a heart attack. News of his passing shocked his many friends.
Bruce Watters was elected president of the Beaverhead county high school students association at the annual election last Thursday. Howard Morse became vice president Elizabeth Wilkinson secretary Bessie Knox treasurer Bill Tait business manager and Clyde Casterline yell leader. Watters also was elected president of the B club in the same election.
Beaverhead county high school's commencement is set for tomorrow night in the school gymnasium with Dr. Francis A. Thomson, president of the School of Mines, delivering the address. Fifty-three seniors will receive diplomas.
May 22 Dillon heard the College Concert Orchestra from Bozeman conducted by Benjamin M. Goodsell perform Weber Oberon, Beethoven Symphony No 5, Lecuona Andalucia, Romberg Sabre Song, Saint-Saens Le Deluge, Bohm Perpetual Motion, Rimsky Korsakov Capriccio Espagnol, and Elgar Pomp and Circumstance in a joint finish with State Normal College and Montana State College under Ralph McFadden. Separately, Jess Reed and W H Hannon were involved in a Lima stabbing affray. Reed injured and Hannah jailed after a Mulligan stew dispute.
Dillon lodge Loyal Order of Moose will host a benefit dance at Dillmont park next Saturday night May 28 with music by the Bachelor Club orchestra and the public invited to attend.

Lee McCracken was re elected chairman of the Dillon Boy Scout citizens' committee at a Monday night meeting in the Andrus hotel basement. About 40 locals voted to continue Boy Scout work. other officers named include E W Bond vice chairman Conrad Orr court of honor Dale Tash board of review N L Henry secretary and Harold Snow treasurer. Percy Frazier Silver Bow area Scout executive from Butte attended and spoke on local Scout work as Snow reported the treasury and Fairbanks retiree secretary presented his annual report.
Dillon Ellis and the Elk Drum Corps announce five dances over the coming weeks to raise funds for travel to the state convention in Anaconda. The first benefits at Dart's hall May 28 with Ellis present, then public events at Twin Bridges June 11, Dell June 25, Dillon July 2, and Dillmont park July 16. Proceeds support corps expenses for the trip.
Three carloads of ore are shipped here from Bannack to Dillon each week, according to Bill Logan of the Beaverhead Mining association. William Thomas and wife return to Trail Creek in the Big Hole basin to begin placer operations. O Toole brothers plan a shovel on Placer creek for placer gold. The Davis dragline outfit prepares to start, and A C Mose of Salt Lake City plans to take over the Badger property north of the Ermont.
