Fifty Cases Settled at Callaway Term and Divorces Granted

Judge Callaway adjourned the spring term after nearly three weeks of work. 50 cases were settled or cleared from the docket. Three divorces were granted on desertion, and Holy Roller cases were assigned to Hon. E. K. Chealde for trial in Dillon.

Beaverhead High Plans June Graduation Week Events

Beaverhead County High School announces its fifth graduation class will receive diplomas Friday evening at the Dillon Theatre. The program includes a baccalaureate at the Presbyterian church, class day at the Dillon Theatre, a graduation address by Rev Charles F. Richardson, and a musical program featuring local artists and the Cecilian quartet.

County fair called off as county focuses on large projects

Bishop Carroll Visits Dillon for First Beaverhead County Tour

The Right Reverend John P. Carroll bishop of Helena arrived in Dillon on Saturday evening for his first official Beaverhead county visit. He was greeted at the depot by Father Pudenz and local parishioners and hosted at a reception. He celebrated mass on Sunday at St. Rose church and administered confirmation to about forty, then dined with Albert Stamm before departing for Sheridan.

Brother found guilty of horse theft near Lima Idaho

Ralph Brothers, a Lima resident, was found guilty by a jury of stealing a mare from Idaho rancher Kriz Nelson. The jury sentenced him to three years at hard labor in the state penitentiary at Deer Lodge. The case arose after a late Wednesday start and concluded Thursday with Lt. Governor Edwin Norris assisting the defense.

Oregon Short Line to Run Two Daily Trains to Salt Lake

The Oregon Short Line will add a second daily train between Butte and Salt Lake starting May 31, increasing daily service to two trains. The schedule aims to cut travel time to Chicago by about seven hours and improve connections with the Union Pacific Overland Limited at Ogden and Pocatello.

Redrock Burglar Convicted in Five Year Sentence

Florant T. Dean, Redrock blacksmith, was found guilty of burglarizing Emerson Hill’s general store on April 1. A patched $5 bill, $21.70, and a snapped safe dial formed key evidence. Dean received five years in Deer Lodge Penitentiary. Witnesses failed to appear. trial ended with verdict at 6 p.m. Thursday.

Memorial Day Observance Planned in Dillon

Memorial day will be observed Tuesday May 30 in Dillon with stores closing. Steadman Post G A R and the Woman's Relief Corps organize services starting Sunday at 8 pm at the Methodist church. Decorated graves at Mountain View cemetery will follow a 1 30 pm procession from the courthouse to the cemetery with veterans and civic groups marching in.
