Special Council Meeting Advances Sewer Plan and Fountain Fund

E L Hall Dies After Long Illness In New Jersey
E L Hall a Dillon business leader died Friday night at his daughter’s home in Spring Lake Beach New Jersey after a lengthy cancer fight. He had lived in Dillon about 12 years managing the Coast dredge boat near Bannack and later engaged in mining and company promotion. He served as president of the Dillon Argenta company and held roles with Graeter Grocery, while active in Masonic orders. Funeral services were held at his old home and burial followed there.

Walter W Powers 32 a Dillon native died in Los Angeles after a long stomach illness. Spanish American War veteran served in Philippines as sergeant of Company E. He and his mother sister Mae and another sister Mae left Montana last December seeking care. Burial will be in Montana with family members traveling from Butte.

Fred Gill also known as Wood faced assault in the first degree charges for an alleged May 9 break in at Mrs Dora Churchill’s home in Dewey. The defense presented witnesses who testified he remained at a dance hall that night. Judge Hirachman discharged the defendant after the case was submitted.

Pioneer Weltha R. McIntosh Dies in Salt Lake City
Mrs. Weltha R. McIntosh a Montana pioneer born Welton in Ohio nearly 80 years ago died after a brief illness in Salt Lake City. She came to Montana in 1863 with her husband William L. McIntosh and lived near Bannack and Bedrock. Eight children were born. three survive Belle Ward Cora Stapleton and Chas. McIntosh. Funeral held Sunday at the Methodist church where she was a member.

The state commission accepted the silver service for the U S S Montana made by Reed & Barton and delivered by Huber Brothers of Dillon. The commission praised the workmanship, quantity, and decorative scheme and thanked Huber Brothers for faithful service. The letter, dated Helena May 16 1908, is signed by Theo Brantley and W H Haviland.

G A Roy acting for a Chicago collecting house gave Geo Kunzman a $10 check drawn on the First National Bank for lodging. The check bounced marked no fonda. Roy also gave Oscar Findling a $5 check but signed a false name. He was arrested at Idaho Falls and made good the shortage.
