Beav erhead County High Hosts Bread Contest Bakes Off

Beav erhead County high school holds a bread baking contest next Friday with twenty seven entrants. Entries pass three o clock and are judged by three local housewives on thoroughness color shape taste and crumb. Prizes come from four city grocers plus a $3 cash award. A sale of baked goods follows as the delegation heads to Missoula for a scholastic meet along with Miss Margaret Ross and Robert Mosher.

Pastime Theatre Features Two Vaudeville Acts This Week

This week's Pastime Theatre program includes The Mellores in a platay comedy act and Rogers and Evans as blackface entertainers with singing and dancing. Each night shows three reels of new motion pictures with a special Saturday matinee at 3 30 p m featuring Pauline Cushman the Federal Spy.

A local theater presents a two reel picture drama as the Tuesday feature. It is praised as of surpassing merit and said to touch the heart and bring joy to audiences. On Wednesday and Thursday the Pathe weekly with Matt and Jeff will be shown.

Edith Remley Weds Kansas Rancher Walter Lowery

Miss Edith Remley of Dillon and Walter J. Lowery of Stafford Kansas united in marriage at the Remley residence with only close family present. Rev E V Ostrander officiated and the couple later dined with the Remley family before leaving for housekeeping in Stafford Kansas.

Mrs W Tate Taylor Heads Home From Flathead Visit

Mrs. W. Tate Taylor left this afternoon for her home near Rowan after months visiting her children in the city. She was accompanied to Butte by Miss Sadie Graeter who will stay several days with her aunt Mrs. O. H. Hopkins.

Pioneer Charles Hirschman Dies Suddenly in Dillon

Charles John Hirschman longtime Dillon resident and former coroner dies at 65 after a brief illness. Born in Frankfurt am Main August 20 1847 he came to America in youth and built a career as bridge builder carpenter bar owner and public official. He leaves a widow Elizabeth Gibbons and son Sylvester with a long record of community service and kindness. Funeral held at Presbyterian church with Rev Groeneveld officiating and burial in Mountain View cemetery.

Normal College triumphs in state oratory contest

The State Normal College carried 11 honors in the state oratorical contest. Maurice Mosher won first place with Night Brings Out the Stars, judged on composition and delivery by a panel from Townsend Stevenaville Billings Butte Anaconda and others. Second went to Payne Templeton and third to Iszette Stetson with other winners named from the Agricultural and Wesleyan institutions.

Encampment in Great Falls Draws Veterans Delegates

The twenty-ninth annual Montana division G A R encampment opens in Great Falls with 400 to 500 veterans and delegates arriving. Leaders include Judge W Y Smith Bozeman G A R commander and Harold Blake Anaconda Spanish war veterans commander. A campfire reception, banquet at Hotel Rainbow hosted by John G Blair and a sightseeing tour accompany the business sessions.

Out of town speakers will include heads of the organizations and Governor 8 W Stewart may attend as guest and speaker. Saturday will feature closing sessions and sightseeing. Reports from across the state show keen interest as Missoula plans to attend with a delegation to win the next convention. Billings is favored as the upcoming host city.

Dillon to Host Another Major Horse Sale on June 9

A. Smith announces Dillon Montana will host a larger horse sale on June 9 with hopes of surpassing the February event. The prior sale drew about 102,600 dollars in county activity, aided by 100,900 passing through Dillon’s First National Bank. Range horses are in demand and cattle may be featured. ample yard space and feed will be provided.

On Friday evening May 9 the junior class presents vaudeville at 8 30 in the college auditorium. Admission 1650 for one 260 for two. Summer School at the Normal Summer Session Opens

Montana State Normal College will open its summer quarter on June 10, offering two six week terms plus a summer school with professional short courses and strong review offerings for teacher certificates.
