Old Timer Dug Newcomber Dies in Dillon
Old pioneer of Dillon, known as Dug Newcomber, died last Thursday afternoon after a brief battle with tuberculosis. He moved to Dillon in the early 1880s, worked for Dillon Implement, ran saloons in Dillon and the Big Hole basin, and once operated a widely noted Apex establishment. Born in Illinois on March 19, 49 years ago, Newcomber was respected, generous, and beloved. Funeral held Saturday at 3 p.m. at K. H. Brundage’s chapel with interment in Mountain View cemetery.
