Dillon City Council Hears Engineer Report on Utilities
City engineer Sam Ward presented a comprehensive biennial report at the March 2 Dillon council meeting. He noted water main upgrades of 6 inch cast iron laid in 1947, a 10 inch well drilled in 1948 producing 766 gpm, Rattle Snake Creek supply, new water meters, and reservoir repairs. Cemetery work added 92 new lots over two seasons and a 250 gpm centrifugal pump was installed. Wooden mains were replaced with 4 inch steel pipe, with hydrant connections limited to lawn excavations. Street oiling trials on Pacific street in wet weather proved unsatisfactory.

From where I sit at the Miller farm
Joe Marsh notes Squint Miller offers new ideas at the family farm. A clever brush clearing method uses two tractors chained and pulled parallel then back to lift roots, saving time. Cappy Miller stays open minded and tolerant, valuing diverse views in farming and everyday choices.
