The Salina Kansas resident, James L Campbell, aged 81, born in Bannack Montana, led the drive to create Montana as a separate territory. He lobbied in Washington during 1863 1864 and helped win congressional approval and Lincoln's endorsement. He later served in Illinois and remains engaged planning a Montana visit.

Three Bad Fins Cause Trouble At Beaverhead Depot
Three men from Butte tried to ride the rails from town and clashed with a brakeman at the south bound train depot. Under Sheriff O C Gosman returned last Sunday from Nashville Tennessee where he visited J B Carter accused four years ago of obtaining money under false pretenses in this city. The governor of Tennessee promised there will be no miscarriage of justice and Gosman plans another trip if Carter is apprehended. En route the Chicago bound train was delayed nine hours due to bad weather and southern insistence on local misperceptions.

Saturday afternoon February 21 a meeting was held in the forest service office at Sheridan Mont by those who graze sheep on the Madison national forest. The association aims to promote interests and solve common sheepmen problems including handling methods, maximizing wool and mutton production, marketing, and improving watering places and range. More than 100 Madison and Beaverhead County residents attended, bringing in buyers from Twin Bridges and Sheridan for farm machinery hay horses cattle and personal property. The sale ran from morning hammer to seven o clock with Frank Schwartz Ira Sanders William Stewart and the Anderson brothers among top buyers. Proceeds fund heir distribution and the ranch will be leased.

City Hall Plan for Dillon Envisions Two Story Building
Fred Willson company awarded the contract to draw the city hall plan. A two story building 109 by 60 feet will house fire department quarters on the first floor and a lobby box office water clerk police court vault and jail. The second floor includes firemen dormitories libraries and a 500 seat auditorium with a nine foot wide lobby. Estimated cost about 25000.
