A Dillon Country club team captured a five to three victory over Idaho Falls in the first inter-city golf meet of the season at the local course. Harry Mooney set a course record with a net 74 and won the low score prize. A return match is planned for August 15 at Idaho Falls.

Sol Sabolsky Dies After Heart Attack in Dillon
Sol Sabolsky 67 a Dillon merchant and longtime Bond Grocery co trustee died at Barrett hospital after a heart attack at work. Born November 10 1880 in Butte he moved to Dillon in 1907 and joined Bond Grocery at its founding in 1916. He was active in the Elks lodge and a respected business leader with a Chicago sister and relatives in Helena and California. Funeral rites were held in Dillon and Butte.

County commissioners met in special session to approve a 3 million emergency expenditure in excess of current appropriations for maintenance in road districts 1 and 2 due to damage from recent rain and snow. A canvass of the June 19 Public Employees Retirement election was declared void because of a voting error. a new election date will be announced.

Agatha Lovell Long a former Dillon resident died suddenly last Friday in Vacaville California from a heart attack. She was born August 16 1897 in England and moved to Dillon at age two. She lived in California for 15 years and is survived by her father Mrs Lovell of Racine Wisconsin and cousins including Phillip J Lovell. Funeral was held at St James Episcopal Church with interment at Mountain View Cemetery.

Calf Show and Sale Draws Large 4-H Crowd
The annual 4-H calf show and sale at the county fairgrounds drew more than 250 spectators. Dick Tash won showmanship for boys 12 and under, with Neal Benson and Bob Peterson taking second and third. Charles Downing led the older boys in showmanship, while Rose Ann Clemon topped the girls division. Top sale steer went to Joe White for 42 cents per pound at 1,000 pounds, with 25 calves averaging 36.4 cents. Multiple local buyers and a steady rain did not dampen attendance as J H. Mikkelson led proceedings and E P Orcutt judged the show.

Lima Rodeo Set for June 26 27 at New Grounds
Lima gears up for a two day rodeo June 26 and 27 at a new 200 by 500 foot venue northwest of town. Events include bron e riding wild cow milking calf roping and bull dogging with local stock from Gleed Bros Jim McKenzie Pete Sweeney Montana Garr and Floyd Kenison. A memorial window honoring St Cecilia is dedicated at St James Episcopal with Rev. Lewis D. Smith leading services. The window, installed by Carolyn White in memory of her mother Margaret White pioneer county matron, commemorates Fred Huber funded by his sisters Anna AGHERSS and Bertha Huer. The Hubers previously dedicated an oak Lectern from Black Forest Germany for Fidel Huber who started a local jewelry store in 1880.

Election Register Closes July 6 for Bond Issue Vote

Transient Laborer Sven Anderson Dies in Barrett Hospital
Sven E. Anderson age 50 died at Barrett hospital Saturday evening after pneumonia. He had been in Dillon only a few days. His son Richard E. Anderson arrived Sunday and arranged to forward the body to Malta for interment. A native of De Smet South Dakota he had lived in Montana for 20 years. He is survived by his son, two daughters, and three sisters.

Funeral services were held at the Brundage chapel for Ralph R. Thomas a former Dilllon resident who died at Fort Harrison last Saturday. Beaverhead post of the American Legion led the rites. He was born in Bozeman on May 9, 1800 and served overseas with the army in France where he was wounded. In later years he lived in Great Falls.
