Alarming Shortage in U S Livestock Meant to Hit Meat Supply
Chicago June 19. The census figures cited by farm expert Herbert Myrick show a sharp drop in U S cattle per 100 people since 1900, with hogs down 41 percent and sheep down two thirds. He warns of gravest economic crime in unjustified price drops and cites lower meat exports, high imports of mutton and lamb, and overestimates by the Agriculture Department, noting 34 900 000 sheep versus 48 600 000 estimated.

Helena June 18. Attorney General Rankin rules hail insurance premiums cannot be collected as a land tax when the landowner did not write the policy.
