Citizens committee to hold Independence Eve dance
A next day dance is planned for Tuesday night at the city hall auditorium with Nellie Little Poole's orchestra. Ambrose Henneberry reports a $22.21 donation from the Eagle bar this week as Dundee County shuffles through a murder case. George Wade, 66, a former Dillon man, was found dead in the Big Hole river near Hannigan's Hole. Police believe he was murdered by a blow to the skull and dumped in the river. The body was discovered by three Butte fishermen and identified Monday night. The investigation is led by Sheriff Claude Lay and Undersheriff A. W. Pascoe of Madison County, who say Wade was dead before disposal. Wade had worked at the Sugar Bowl cafe years ago and was known to Beaverhead residents.

Mrs Nyhart Dies After Illness in Butte
Mrs. Jordan L. Nyhart, 67, longtime Madison county matron, died Sunday in a Butte hospital after a two week illness. Survived by four sons, three daughters in Twin Bridges, two grandsons, a granddaughter in the armed forces, and several siblings and in laws in Iowa, Butte, and Seattle. Husband died two months earlier at the family ranch near Point of Rocks. Born in Iowa, she came to Montana as a child and resided on the ranch founded 80 years ago by the Nyhart family.

Mrs Angeline Jakway Dies After Long Illness
Mrs Angeline Jakway 68 longtime Beaverhead County resident died Sunday at the Dillon home of her daughter Mrs Myrtle Taylor Larson after a prolonged illness. Born August 31 1872 in Marysville Missouri she came West with her parents and lived in Glendale and Grasshopper valley before marrying Ben Taylor on Christmas Day 1895. The couple lived on a ranch south of Dillon before relocating in 1912.

Prospector of Big Hole Found Dead
Willard Franke aged 67, a recluse prospector in the Big Hole basin, was found dead beside a road on the John Dooling ranch near Jackson on Saturday from an apparent heart attack. Connor Raymond Schwartz, who moved the body to Dillon, said no inquest was needed. The discovery was by Wendell Jardine Joe Shaw and Kenneth Krause. Franks had lived a secluded life in the hills for 30 years and sometimes aided ranchers. he was once employed as a fire guard under Forest Ranger M. G. Ramsey.

W W Hawkins, the county war finance chairman, says purchases so far reach 90 percent, with counties over subscribing nationwide. Montana mining interests gathered at the Montana School of Mines on Saturday June 16 to discuss the State Bureau of Mines and Geology program for the next biennium.
