Stockmen Protest Against Forest Grazing Fee Increases

At a Beaverhead county conference stockmen and local officials debated the Radford report proposing gradual fee hikes for forest grazing. They urged a fixed, permanent rate and warned against tying fees to private land values or fluctuating beef prices. Officials noted production costs are hard to assess, while a secretary of agriculture representative will submit findings to Secretary Jardine later this month.
