Mystery Doyle Sapphire Mine Said Hidden Near Roundup

Roundup residents recount the tale of the Doyle sapphire mine in Musselshell County near Roundup. The eccentric shepherd Doyle reportedly found a wealth of sapphires around 1903 and distributed gems to friends while eluding a clear location. Attempts to verify and locate the mine continued for years, with Doyle later committed to Warm Springs asylum for alcoholism and later disappearances. The story remains unconfirmed but many believe the dyke exists within the Musselshell river area bounded by the Musselshell, Flatwillow creek, and Roundup.
