Elliott Goes to Hire Instructors for State Colleges

Chancellor Edward C. Elliott left for Chicago to recruit instructors to fill 12 vacancies created by resignations in Montana state institutions. Salaries offered elsewhere often exceed Montana pay, with many teachers earning 2000 annually receiving offers of 2500 to 3000. Overwork and limited vacations also force resignations. Elliott aims to hire from the middle western field to restore staffing.
