OPS Begins Nationwide Survey For Community Pricing In Montana
The Office of Price Stabilization in Helena Montana launches a nationwide survey next week to set base for posted dollars and cents community pricing in retail food stores. District price stabilizer Hugh I O Keefe says initial survey of wholesale items will lead to study of about 1400 Montana retail stores with prices kept confidential. The aim is to test price stability for a practical community pricing system similar to World War II ceilings posted in stores. OPS notes such pricing aided price control from 1943 until the program ended and explains current caps on below parity farm prices. Also OPS orders Montana juke box distributors to file operations statements under Ceiling Price Regulation 34.
