Dillon Elks drum and bugle corps will depart tomorrow morning for Red Lodge to attend the Montana Elks association state convention. E. W. Johnson will be official delegate with David Hier as alternate. Attending members include director Kenneth Wheat and drummer Harold Murray among others.

Wisdom Mourns Jessie Holman Morrison at 24

Jessie Holman Morrison died in Darby after feeling unwell at home. Born in Wisdom, she lived there most of her life, attended high school in Dillon, and spent recent years in Darby. Survived by husband Earl Morrison two sons parents Fred and Mrs. Holman, sister Mrs. Earl Chatterton, brother Frederick Holman, and uncles C. W. Francis and Fred Francis. Funeral plans unavailable.

Beaverhead County Ranges Report Strong Growth Despite Water Shortage

Frequent rains over two months yielded exceptionally good range conditions across Beaverhead County with lush grass, especially in the Big Hole basin. Haying delays in lower valleys due to rain contrast with below-average second cutting because of limited storage irrigation water. Summer showers aided Beaverhead National Forest, logging only one major fire from lightning on the Fourth of July. No man-caused fires of consequence have been reported this year, per forest officials.

Mrs. June Christensen 40 died after brief illness in Lima. She was born in Joplin Missouri June 4 1897 and is survived by her husband Verne and daughter Violet Galbraith of Payette Idaho. Funeral held in Idaho Falls. Beaverhead county schools receive 11 921 48 from tax collections for the second half of 1936. Superintendent Neil Doyle reports 32 active districts share the total with per census child 7 68. District allocations include Dillon 6008 83 and Wisdom 629 87 among others.

Big Hole Basin Home Is Robbed Saturday Night

The Toomey ranch on the Wisdom Divide road in Wisdom was robbed likely Saturday night. Warren Shaw reports goods worth over 300 dollars missing after thieves used chalk bluff tracks and an old car to reach an impassable main entrance. They took guns sleeping gear enamelware cooking utensils dishtowels groceries a saddle a silver mounted bridle and chaps. The theft occurred without haste by kerosene lamp light.

Gold Discovery Site Visited by Excursionists

A Dillon group of about 25 toured Virginia City last Saturday visiting the dredge the site of Montana s first gold discovery and the museum. Lyman Bennet guided a town inspection and they passed Robbers Roost en route to Twin Bridges where Davey led a tour of the Orphans Home. Credit goes to Dr Albright for the trip s success and local golfers presented included Jack Gilbert who shot 74 in Anaconda.

Trap event held at Lima Sunday

Otto Schulz of Sheridan led the field in a trapshoot at Lima Sunday under the Lima Gun club. Dr. E. G. Free broke 49, J. D. Leary 48 and 22x24 in doubles. wind and rain touched scores with Everett Peterson and Ted Renfro each at 47 and others in the 50-target singles.

Circus Aerialist Dies From Trapeze Mishap Injuries

Gladys leTourneau 25 an aerialist with the Liebrand Brothers circus died in Glasgow after injuries from a July 6 trapeze fall at Wheeler Fort Peck project town Pneumonia followed on Wednesday She was famed for the heel catch and had previously worked with Al G Barnes Robbins Brothers and Polack Brothers circus She is survived by her husband.

A Dillon civic committee meeting at city hall approved feasibility and desirability of forming a Dillon chamber of commerce. New members John H. Dr. Robert E. Albright Elected Social Sciences Professor

At Helena the State Board of Education elected Dr. Robert E. Albright to a professorship in social sciences at the State University. He will begin in autumn quarter, bringing a Ph D from Stanford and previous posts including work at Nebraska Wesleyan and the University of Colorado.

Three youths Ernest Newman George Vanderhoff and Frank Hawkes were seized from a freight train by Sheriff Paul Temple and deputies on request of Dubois Idaho officials. They face robbery suspicions after tools ropes chaps and rawhide were found. They were returned to Dubois.
