Melrose Fourth Celebrations Draw Large Crowd

Melrose held a lively Fourth of July with an unsafe and insane slogan. George Todd won the free-for-all on Twin Bridges, Walter Sirla claimed the saddle race on Whiskey Pete, and Clifton Reid rode Badger to win the saddle and go. Odell Green was penalized for rule noncompliance in the burro race. Roy Peterson took the winnings on Rose. Moonshine activity drew sheriffs from Butte, eight calls to the office, and a late evening dance followed by showery weather delaying haying.
