Dillon Nation Birthday Celebration Stuns with Free Fun All Day
Twenty years ago Dillon marked the nations birthday with a sunup to post midnight parade and events seen as the best celebration yet. The day featured a National salute, a parade led by Co. F N G, the car of state, business floats, and a comic Ragmuffin band. Prizes were awarded for costumes and races, plus a keg of beer for the tug of war. Short Line supplies sawdust to fight grasshoppers
The Oregon Short Line last week furnished a carload of sawdust to be used in battling the grasshopper pest at this place. The sawdust, saturated with molasses and other bait ingredients, is said to be as effective as grain. This may be the final battle as the insects near flying size, though results will be learned later. Millions of grasshoppers have reportedly been eradicated with the poison.
