A large crowd filled the Dillon area for a county celebration in Lima with a full day of events from 6:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. including races, speeches by Hon. Jos. C. Smith, a Lima choir performance, a dinner, and a baseball game, all accompanied by the Dillon brass band.
The Reservoir Company has begun delivering water after resolving disputes with ranchers. Judge Callaway agreed to provisional percentages to compensate for seepage and evaporation, with the company to add 5 percent for water from the dam to Red Rock station, 10 percent from Red Rock to Dillon, and 15 percent from Dillon to the Point of Rocks.
A pending consolidation in the Big Hole basin would bring 18 000 acres under one company with roughly 500 000 dollars in financing from Spokane and eastern investors. The proposed plan combines Bales & Jones properties with Joe Toomey B Canfield and Wellcome Peckover holdings. Investigators reported good cattle condition and improved hay after recent heavy rains despite muddy, wet roads.
R E Foster proprietor of the Dillon Candy Kitchen announces the balcony addition to his ice cream parlors. A Dillon Montana sale drew buyers from Sparks and Miles City with about 1000 head of horses sold for around 70000 dollars. Clyde Moore led bidding while C X Larabee’s standard bred broke horses drew spirited interest and several local buyers secured fast drivers. Also notes a wool market shift with limited old wool demand and prices supported by New Zealand crossbreds and pulled wool softness.
Last week about 750000 pounds of Montana wool in five or six clips sold to eastern buyers at 17 14 to 22 cents a pound. Billings saw three sales including 500000 pounds purchased by Joseph Wing for Dewey Gould & Co. of Boston at 18 1 4 cents and 50000 pounds each from W H Clinton and Bert Shorey bought by Silverman Bros. of Chicago and 22 cents respectively. G R Jameson of Glasgow sold 150000 pounds to F R Peters for Boston buyers, while the C M Blair 3,000,000 pound clip moved east in a 25-car train, marked as the largest in the United States.
