Far reaching effects of federal cattle and sheep policies
The article from Los Angeles discusses how federal purchasing of five million cattle may reshape future supplies, with price based on age, the shift of middle western cropland to pasture, and the impact on western stockmen. It notes consequences for feeder cattle demand, regional production shifts, and cautions western producers to monitor these policy-driven changes.

Leavitt Highlights Two Montana Laws as National Guideposts
Former Congressman Scott Leavitt asserts two Montana laws are now models for national policy. He cites the 1928 community grazing area between Pumpkin and Mizpah creeks in Custer county and the 1930 act refinancing the Bitter Root irrigation project in Ravalli county as experimental laboratories whose success informs West rehabilitation and public lands grazing policy. He notes their lessons shape current federal approaches.
