Governor Sam C Ford called a July 11 meeting in Helena to form a state highway safety council per Truman recommendations. The invite went to county and city leaders plus veterans educational and law enforcement groups. State Agriculture Commissioner Albert Kruse said he would seek an AG ruling on a war food amendment on grain storage arguing it may discriminate against farmers. He noted the rule could force farmers to sell half their stored grain to the government within 15 days after delivery regardless of price. The North Dakota Public Service Commission had already rejected the order as discriminatory.
