Armstead Solved Wino Problem by Agreement Between Liquor Vendors
Armstead a town of about 100 residents faced a wine problem as 25 to 30 winos created thefts and public disturbances. Two local liquor dealers met and agreed to stop selling fortified wine to identified winos, shifting business to deter nuisance. The result: wine availability dropped, winos dispersed, while Armstead’s trade improved. Dillon may face similar issues as its larger population and more outlets complicate a lasting cure.
