Basin News: Mines, cattle and a counterfeit dollar tale
Wilke and Meyers expect their Martin mine lease to end in May as they plan work elsewhere on Warm Springs creek. Nels Nelson of Jillon manages cattle, feeding 350 head locally with 200 ready for sale. Buyer Kennedy for Frye-Bulin & Co. reports satisfactory beef cattle deals with Irschy and Brown. Frank Hazelbaker sent a suspect coin to the mint in San Francisco, which was deemed a poor imitation and confiscated. The Ajax mine, Bonanza group on Steele creek, and Maynard Bros. & Clifford’s ore prospects boost local activity.
